HP NC6120 laptop

The equipment was delivered in good working order, but was shorted a 256MB (DIMM). Advertised as 512gb RAM, had 256MB and start-up showed that the system had been altered. Someone obviously removed the DIMM.I e-mailed customer service. They referred to it a defective system, which was incorrect, it was merely missing the DIMM. They took no action other than to guide me to the 800 number. No service there. Should change their name to customer mis-direction.While I like the laptop I don't feel this vendor did a very good job of delivering what they advertised. Poor on delivery, poor on follow-through. If I have to chase to get what I paid for it takes away from an otherwise good deal. I won't purchase from this vendor again.

It was shipped promptly and is in great condition. I uninstalled Windows and installed Ubuntu and all is well. Works fine. The one that I got will need a new battery if I ever want to use it without the cord but that's no biggie. Until I need the battery I'll just plug it in. Works for me. The total price that I paid was $155.00 S/H included. Great deal. :0)UPDATE: November 6 2012 :: The seller called my home phone suggesting that I was trying to pull a scam by mistakenly placing bad review (from a different seller) in his seller comments area. I felt intimidated by the call and thought that it was far too reactionary for a mistakenly placed bad review. The above review was written first and he didn't even mention that. He was slightly rude and a bit too aggressive for my taste. The battery does not work but I was forgiving for that just because I am not one to stir up trouble. His response to my asking if the battery should be working was something to the tune of " we test them all before we send them out". Mine does not work. I am not a scam artist and I do not have a bad history with Amazon. This seller should apologize and allow me to post the exact apology here in the comments section and he should send me a working battery. NEVER LET THE SELLER HAVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER. Don't get the sort of call that I did. Get it all in writing as Amazon keeps the seller buyer text exchange for a while and you and or the seller can use that to back up your claim should an issue arise.SELLER: Do not call me again. Put it in writing please. Thank you.

A Great Laptop For College

Despite being around 6 years old, this laptop still has a lot to offer. Right out of the box I started it up and hooked up to the internet. My first thought was "Wow! I really got a bargain!", I could surf the web quickly and seamlessly. Later on I added Microsoft Word and other programs for college work. Even though it feels kinda hefty, it is very compact and can fit in a bookbag easily. Ive had it for a while now and never had a problem with it so far. Its great for college work or just surfing the web, which is exactly what I needed.

I have recently purchased multiple HP6910p systems from this seller. Customer service was excellent and delivery was quick. The items were extremely well packed. The seller was willing to allow me to come to the his location to resolve a minor problem.The computers were as advertised and in excellent cosmetic condition. I purchased them knowing that I was going to upgrade both the hard drives and RAM, so the configuration as sold was fine.I would definitely purchase from this seller again.

Wroks great for 120$ , first one was lost by UPS, , but the company (Gracetechnology2) sent another one when they found out, total process took about 5 weeks. added 1 gig memory, a 120gig SSD and windows7 32bit, it is now an extremily fast laptop, 10sec to boot.

I bought two of these...the first one I use for work and the second I bought for my mom (in-law). She absolutely loves it...she took her first Windows7 class this past Friday and I assembled a lovely cart-like table for her that she can use while sitting in her bedroom...she's really excited about the system and appreciates the advanced security features...especially the "finger print" sensor.

Great Road Warrior

Update 11/13/2012:While d420 is still capable of running basic tasks, it is a very old computer. There are newer models from Dell (like 13" Dell Latitude E6410 or E6430), or HP (like 12" HP Eliebook 2540 or 2560) that will not bankrupt you and still be able to deliver much better performance and cope with future demands.I would buy something with at least the first generation of Intel i3 (i5 is better) processor. The second generation of Intel processors - Sandy Bridge - is much better than the first one and still reasonably priced. The third generation - Ivy Bridge - is a little better than Sandy Bridge but way too expensive.I would also make sure I have at least 3GB of RAM. I would not care much for a Hard Drive - I would swap it for a Solid State Drive. A SSD is the best upgrade for your laptop, period. You can buy something like 120GB Intel 330 or Samsung 830 for about a $100. And Windows 7 is still the best.Hope this update will help. Thanks for reading.Original Review:I have had this D420 for 2 years and it has never failed me no matter what. I take it every day to college. And to get to my school, I commute in the crowded NY subway for 1 hour one-way! I also take it when I travel. So far it has been in London (UK), Moscow (Russia), and twice in Kiev (Ukraine).This computer is very thin and weights only 3 lb. It has the magnesium-alloy frame and high-quality plastic outer shell. It is really rugged and rigid - no flex whatsoever. It has withstood the beating very well - there are practically no marks or scratches after 2 years.My laptop came with Core Solo U1300 1.06GHz processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and Windows XP Pro. The system is very stable - never had any problems with it. I installed AVG antivirus, Windows Defender, and Win Patrol HIPS. With all this running, I am able to use MS Word 2007, MS Excel 2007, Firefox (several tabs open), and Media Player at the same time with relative ease. I usually surf Internet, watch YouTube or Hulu, and do light photo editing with XNView. With an external DVD drive, I watch movies and rip CDs. Also, I work with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel every day. I even do some occasional gaming (WarCraft 3 runs smoothly on medium/low settings!) But do not expect this laptop to be lightning-fast. And do not try to play Crysis! This computer takes its time at the start-up (nothing too big though) and when opening multiple apps.The computer is very power-efficient. The battery lasts for several hours and easily gets me through my day in college. The wireless card works just fine. I use it to connect to my campus network. At my home, I use wired DSL modem via the network card - no problems here either. When I went to Russia and Ukraine, I used the built-in dial-up modem - worked like charm. There is a slot for a Cellular HSDPA modem - never used it. I like the SD Card slot - use it a lot. The speaker is really tiny, but I use external speakers or headphones for music. The keyboard is really comfortable. I have had something like a dozen laptops, and I think that d420 has one of the best keyboards I have seen so far. The touchpad is good too, though I usually use a wireless mouse.To extend connectivity and avoid plugging and unplugging numerous cords every day, I bought a Dell Media Base with built-in DVDRW drive. Now my DSL modem, speakers, printer, and power cord are constantly connected to the Base and the d420 sits on top of it. This also allowed me to move all the cords to the back, so they do not get in the way.Long story short: I am really happy with it - highly recommended. Loved it so much, bought 3 for the family

Bought the first one for my college-age daughter, who just loved it. She has a docking station at her desk so she can quickly disconnect and throw it in her backpack. Case is magnesium and built like a tank. Dual-core processor is an order of magnitude faster than the Atom in netbooks. Even with a 6-hour battery, whole thing weighs maybe 3.5 pounds. Great keyboard, too.Anyway, I loved the first unit so much, I bought a second one for myself, then a third for the wife. Great machines, and now you can easily find them for $250 on eBay or as refurbs. To me, WAY more sense than a netbook. You can get serious work done on this thing, and it's still small and light.

Has been an excellent laptop

I have owned the D420 sinse 2006. I use it every single day for a couple hours on average and generally do not power it off between use. The screen is still bright and everything works as it did when new. I am a hard core computer user and have been for over 20 years and this was the 8th or 9th laptop that I have owned. So far, it has been by far the most reliable and longest lasting laptop for me. I bought two batteries when new and cycle between them. One has about a one hour charge and the other is about two, which is not bad at all considering the age.Obviously I cannot rate the actual used product that someone may be purchaseing on this forum, but for the product line in general, I have nothing but good to say for the Dell Latitude D420 - great product.

I would buy again from this seller. The laptop was packaged safe for shipping and arrived quickly. The product matched the description and was in great working order. No instruction manual included, so I would suggest downloading one or asking for one if you do not know how to use a laptop or are a beginner. When I purchased a refurbished computer I expected to get a computer that I could used for a year or longer until a new one cauld be purchased. After receiving the computer and using for two weeks it stopped working. In one months time I spent $500.00 and now have nothing to show for it. The computer is sitting unable to use because it does not turn on.

The model number for this is 5336-2524. This computer has great performance. It is extremely light. It comes with Windows 7 Home Premium instead of Windows 7 starter so I didnt have to pay for an upgrade. I love that it has a webcam and mic. My only issue is that the audio is a bit soft but I can live with that. This is a great value for the price.

I have had this laptop for about a year now and use it every day for school. My only complaint is that the mouse pad is off center. It's great that they put the number keypad on the side - I use that often. However with the mouse pad off center, I always feel like I have to also sit off-centered from the monitor. When I try to sit more centered, my hand hits the mouse pad and, many times, it has clicked the cursor somewhere else on the screen and suddenly I'm typing in the wrong place. Other than that, it has been a good computer for the cost.
