DON'T BUY TOSHIBA LAPTOPS
By Natalie
I purchased a brand new Tecra M11 in 2009 direct from Toshiba. I use my laptop as my primary business computer - it's a replacement for a desktop machine for me and required for my business. Fortunately I bought the extended warranty because 18 months after purchase I had complete hard drive failure. They were prompt at sending me a box and promised me a repaired machine in 10 business days. 40 DAYS LATER I still didn't have a machine. I started calling (India!) once a week after the 10 day period and they kept reporting same thing - still under repair. Finally I'd had enough and demanded either my repaired machine or a comparable replacement within 3 business days. They were in violation of the warranty required time so they did offer me a replacement. THEY DID NOT TELL ME it was a reconditioned machine! I got the new machine and the keyboard doesn't work properly! Straight out of the box and it has a problem. Needless to say I cannot recommend Toshiba at all. When you spend over $2000 on a machine, it should last more than 18 months and when you buy extended warranty, you shouldn't have to wait 40+ days to get a repaired/replaced machine (AND they should clearly let you know they're sending you a reconditioned machine replacement). Save yourself the headaches I've had and AVOID TOSHIBA!
